Role: The purpose of a Member Services Representative is to accurately and efficiently process and record routine transactions for credit union members including cashing checks, accepting deposits and withdrawals, processing loan payments and money transfers. Promote and advise on the credit union products and services. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a must. Must be available to work on Saturdays. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • It is the responsibility of the MSR to deliver outstanding service to members, as well as the internal team and the community; additionally, the MSR must always represent the Credit Union in a professional and friendly manner, both internally and within the community.

  • Maintains working knowledge of the Credit Union’s products and services, operations policies and procedures.

  • Maintains an organizational system for all work that provides clear documentation of activities at a best practice level for the Credit Union; ensures logs and spreadsheets are kept on backed up PC network and are always current and archived appropriately.

  • Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells money orders and cashier’s checks to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed.

  • Balances transaction totals for each assigned ATM according to established department standards and regulations.

  • Post transactions to member accounts and maintain member records.

  • Welcomes members and provides routine information concerning services and directs members to appropriate department for specific information and service.

  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.

  • Cross-sells credit union services.

  • Assists members with closing accounts, answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve.

  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks including typing, filing, computer input and answering the telephone.

  • Complete all required annual regulatory and lending training as assigned

  • Represents the credit union at external events and various business development opportunities as needed.

  • Maintains strong professional relationship with all departments.

  • Represents SCCCU to solve member concerns or account errors, including but not limited to resolving member issues and solving complex member account problems.

  • Ensures high quality communications to ensure member needs are met.

  • Participates in credit union community development events and establishes community relationships supportive to the Credit Union.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Travel between the different SCCCU branches may be required to meet member service needs.

Required Education/Skills and Experience Included but not limited to the following:
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Credit Unions policies and procedures as well as regulations and compliance issues both state and federal. Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy, OFAC and CIP/MIP. Adheres to Credit Unions service standards and Core Values.
Experience and Education:
Experience - 6 months to 2 years of similar or related experience.
Education - A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
Other Skills/Abilities - Must have good communication skills. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a must. 10-key calculator and keyboarding skills. Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft computer applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. Must be capable of operating all types of office equipment including computer, copy machine, fax and telephone.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
