Local Non-Profit Organizations Receive FHLB Grant Funds
The Credit Union is excited to announce that it received $17,890 for three local non-profit organizations in Santa Cruz County.
Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes, the Homeless Garden Project, and the Community Action Board (CAB) have received the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of San Francisco’s 2021 Pandemic Relief Matching Grant for $5,945, $5,945, and $6,000, respectively.
“Each of these organizations gives back so much to our community,” stated Katie Fairbairn, Vice President of Communication & Organizational Development at SCCCU. “We’re honored to help them with the things they need to help the most vulnerable in our community.”
Pajaro Valley Loaves & Fishes has been serving the community since 1989, dedicating its services to relieve hunger among working low-income families, farmworkers, the elderly, disabled, and homeless.
The Homeless Garden Project provides job training, transitional employment, and support services to people experiencing homelessness. Alongside employment, the Homeless Garden Project also provides education and volunteer programs to the community.
The Community Action Board (CAB) works closely with the community to create social change and eliminate poverty. CAB’s operating essential service programs assist over 11,000 low-income people in Santa Cruz County.
“We are grateful for the relationship we have with these amazing organizations,” stated Beth Carr, President/CEO of SCCCU. “We will continue to find ways to support these organizations as well as others in our community that do so much good.”
The Credit Union recently raised over $158,000 for 12 non-profit organizations in the county (including the three mentioned above) through its 2021 RETURN THE FAVOR Giving Campaign. And we plan to do it again beginning in August 2022.
