Local Non-Profits Receive $100,000 Each in Grant Funds through SCCCU Sponsorship
The Credit Union is thrilled to announce that Watsonville's Monarch Services and the El Pajaro Community Development Corporation received the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of San Francisco’s 2024 AHEAD Grant for $100,000 each. SCCCU was proud to sponsor these organizations and looks forward to continuing to partner in 2025 and beyond.
The Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development (AHEAD) grants ensure people in lower-income communities have the infrastructure and resources they need to participate fully in a changing economy.
Monarch Services, located in Watsonville, provides intervention services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Its services are designed to enable survivors to re-establish their lives and achieve long-term financial stability. The AHEAD Grant funds will be used to hire a bilingual, trauma-informed senior case manager specializing in financial literacy, service navigation, advocacy, and the administration of acute client aid.
El Pajaro Community Development Corporation programs are dedicated to creating meaningful change for the predominantly Latinx and female entrepreneurs of the Pajaro Valley and Central Coast. Furthermore, the non-profit’s Home Childcare Business Assistance Program addresses the critical needs of financially and linguistically challenged women-owned businesses and expands access to affordable childcare for low-wage working families. The grant funds will support in-language training and capital grants to existing and new childcare businesses.
“The Credit Union is pleased that our partners received this award,” stated Beth Carr, SCCCU President/CEO. “Each year, the process gets increasingly more competitive as so many organizations need funds to help those most vulnerable in our communities nationwide. We’ll continue to offer the resources and staff needed to help local non-profit organizations get the funds they need to provide essential services to those in need. We truly appreciate the hard work so many put into continually improving our community.”
